As many as 30% of insurance claims for jewellery and related items are affected by under-insurance because the claimant is unaware of the real value of the items until it is too late.

At Lanes we offer a professional valuation service in association with National Association of Jewellers Institute of Registered Valuers. We provide a drop-off service allowing you to leave the items with us for valuation. The turnaround time for this service is usually around seven working days.

Insurance Claims

We are acknowledged experts in this minefield. Whatever your problems, our staff are well versed in dealing sympathetically with your claims and acting on your behalf with your insurers or brokers to negotiate the best possible settlement.

Lanes we often are required to source for example, a matching Victorian cut diamond for replacement in an antique ring where a modern cut substitute would be the easiest but in our opinion, a most unsuitable solution.

Watch Repairs & Servicing

A high quality wrist watch is a precision instrument that needs to be serviced regularly. We recommend a service at least every three years. What’s more, when your watch is serviced, the case is cleaned and refurbished which can make it look like new again.

We’re able to service most brands of watch, including Rolex, Cartier, Breitling & Omega. If replacement parts are required we guarantee to always use genuine parts not cheaper ‘generic’ ones.

Battery replacement

Battery replacement is something we carry out at Lanes many times every day.

If no water resistancy test is necessary this would normally be completed whilst you are in town. Usually this is of minimal charge, often less than £10.00. Water resistancy testing (to 3atm) is now available in-house.
